Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Indiana University South Bend invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position as a one-year sabbatical replacement for our organic chemist. This position is not renewable. The successful candidate will teach the two-semester organic chemistry lecture and laboratory sequence for our chemistry, biochemistry, and biology majors. Some courses taught may be offered evening, weekend, off-site, and/or online. This is a 10-month contract starting August 1, 2025.

Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • MS in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related field 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively in our department and within the university
  • Strong background in organic chemistry 
  • Evidence of teaching organic chemistry
  • Experience with NMR, FT-IR, and other routine instruments used in organic chemistry

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. (ABD okay) in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related field
  • Experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
