The Physics Department at Hamilton College invites candidates to apply for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning on July 1, 2025 with the possibility of renewal.  A PhD in Physics, or related field, is required for this position.  Job responsibilities could include teaching at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels, in both classroom and laboratory settings.

The Physics Department (https://www.hamilton.edu/academics/departments/physics ) has eight faculty members with active research interests in including astronomy, condensed matter experiment, cosmology, nuclear physics, quantum computing, and quantum gravity.  Students are involved in all of these research areas and every student performs research as part of their senior project. Using a variety of pedagogical techniques our faculty teach courses for our 15-20 yearly majors, introductory courses for students with related interests such as pre-health and pre-engineering, and outreach courses for students interested in exploring physics. 

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would further the College's goals of enhancing the educational experiences of students while building a diverse and inclusive educational environment.  The teaching load for this position is five courses per year.
