Description:

Berea College welcomes applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in the English Department to teach poetry in the Creative Writing program during the 2025-2026 academic year. The teaching load is three courses per semester and include multi-genre introductory creative-writing course, a poetry workshop, and an interdisciplinary and/or special topics course rooted in creative writing and/or literature. In addition to primary teaching courses in the Creative Writing program the successful candidate may be expected to contribute to the General Studies program.

The ideal candidate will have an MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing, demonstrated excellence in teaching, a clear commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education, and a history of publications, including at least one full collection of poetry from a reputable publisher.
