Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Produce, shoot, edit and help conceptualize high-quality digital videos that support the School of Public Health’s strategic priorities. • Develop and complete special video projects to support the School of Public Health’s aim to educate about public health via storytelling; to meet the school’s strategic priorities; and to highlight major events and promote faculty/student initiatives.
  • Plan and execute photography on deadline, per assignments from the communications team. Meet regularly with communications, admissions and other school leaders and faculty to plan photography. Scout feature image ideas and propose new ways to tell stories visually.
  • Schedule and take single-location portraits of faculty members and school leaders as they join the school so these can be shared in a cohesive, timely manner on the school website.
  • Photograph and/or videotape school events, from addresses, to community-focused work, to student projects and other events, for use on website and to share with other university channels, including the university’s marketing and communications and Advancement team for WashU-created videos or news outlets.
  • Work with graphic designer and web team to conceptualize and produce high-quality graphics, charts, maps and other visual elements to enhance multimedia projects for the school.
  • Lead project to determine how and where the school will store and archive videos and photos. This will involve working with partners in university marketing and communications to determine what can be done on the university and the school levels.
  • Edit images, apply digital post-production techniques and prepare photos and video for digital and print publication. Note accurate information about the who, what, when and where of each photo and video assignment for identification purposes.
