Systems Specialist I, Research
University Financial Aid
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Systems Specialist I is focused on the timely assistance with annual surveys, required reporting, and data share requests. This position oversees the importing and exporting of various electronic records. The Systems Specialist I assists with the development and disbursement of required reports associated with federal and institutional compliance. This position performs additional related critical tasks. This position serves as the lead assistant to the Senior Associate Director for Research as well as serving the University Financial Aid Office management team with various research and reporting endeavors associated with maintaining and improving our operations. The Systems Specialist I serves as a liaison between the Financial Aid Office and other internal and external entities (such as the university’s Institutional Research (IR) and Information Technology (IT) departments) on issues related to financial aid operations. This position serves as a lead mentor on the department’s technology team and assists with the training of staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong organizational and analytical skills and excellent attention to detail are necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Superior interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to impart those skills to members of the staff.
• Ability to be flexible to handle a variety of duties and projects throughout the year, as the demands of a Financial Aid Office are cyclical in nature.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, parents, faculty, academic deans and administrators, guidance counselors, alumni, government representatives, banks, loan servicing agencies, and loan guarantee agencies.
• Computer literacy.
Required Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 4 years of financial aid experience or educational training in student affairs, counseling, accounting, or related fields.
• Experience with spreadsheets and Banner software.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 24PREM.
