We are seeking a technician to manage a complex mouse colony with several genetic crosses, including breeding and genotyping. The technician will also carry out mouse surgery experiments to study tendon healing and analyses related to outcomes, including immunofluorescence, western blotting, gene expression, and biomechanics assays. The technician will also work with graduate students to train them in crucial techniques in the lab and maintain updated LATCH and other administrative responsibilities. 

Functional Knowlege: 

  • Connective tissue biology and understanding of molecular biology techniques (10%) 

Problem Solving: 

  • Ability to solve complex problems related to techniques or data interpretation/analyses (10%)

Decision Making/Autonomy: 

  • Works independently and is able to assist graduate students in techniques and train new members of the lab. (10%)

Technical Expertise: 

  • Must have broad expertise in cell and molecular biology analyses under normal and disease conditions (60%)

Communication: 

  • Able to train new members of the lab, able to communicate research findings to the PI and lab group, and assist in the generation of new data for publications and funding applications (10%)

  • Masters degree in Biology or Biomedical Engineering or related field
  • Experienced in cryosectioning, histology, immunostaining, basic microscopy, and mouse colony management
  • At least 4-6 years of research experience
  • If over 15 years of experience a masters degree will not be required, but a bachelors degree in biology, biomedical engineering, or related field is required.
