Scope of Job
The Department of Art at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is hiring a One Year Lecturer to start Fall 2025 to teach in its Bachelor’s/Master of Fine Arts (B.A./BFA/MFA) program in both campuses (Brownsville & Edinburg).  Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university, or local community as needed.
 
UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV’s guiding principles (http://www.utrgv.edu/strategic-plan/), which include promoting access to postsecondary education to a diverse student body and to becoming one of the largest and most successful Hispanic-serving emerging research institutions in the U.S.A.
 
Teaching assignments include Art History Survey courses and History of Graphic Design. Candidates will be expected to have teaching experience and expertise in more than one area.
 
Minimum Qualifications
The qualifications to be considered for a one-year appointment in Art History are 18 graduate credit hours in the specific subject area and an MA, MFA or Ph.D. from an accredited institution
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
One-year lecturers hired to teach Art History will be required to attend training workshops on the use of D2L Brightspace and common online text. Inability to attend training may result in the cancellation of assignment.
Preferred Qualification
Teaching experience is desirable, as well as the ability to use technology to support teaching and learning. Lecturers must be willing to do assessment measures to contribute to data on assessment. Preference is given to applicants who are willing to teach at both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses.
