Requirements
Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of Georgetown University Medical Center , seeks to prevent, treat, and cure cancers by linking scientific discovery, expert and compassionate patient care, quality education and partnership with the community — guided by the principle of cura personalis, “care for the whole person.” Georgetown Lombardi is the research engine driving clinical cancer research at MedStar Health in the D.C. Metro area and Hackensack Meridian Health in northern New Jersey.
The Research Technician I assists the Principal Investigator (PI) on a daily basis to carry out experiments for ongoing projects and performs general laboratory maintenance. Particularly, they help in maintaining mice models and perform molecular and biochemical techniques. Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Perform aseptic techniques for cell culture (cancer cell lines).
Perform routine laboratory maintenance and research activities as assigned.
Conduct biochemical and molecular assays for example, western blotting, qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, plasmid extraction).
Perform collecting, analyzing and reporting data to the PI.
Maintain mouse lines, genotyping and breeding (for example, extraction genomic DNA from mice tail, genotyping).
Perform administrative duties such as assisting in developing policies, procedures and/or methods for laboratory experimentation.

This Research Technician position is for the Cancer Cell Biology Program (Han’s Lab), Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center – Georgetown University Medical Center. Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) clinicians are dedicated to providing the best professional care, delivered with compassion, for all patients. Lombardi's internationally-renowned physicians treat virtually every type of cancer, including breast, lung, colorectal, prostate, head and neck, and cancers of the blood. Along with cutting-edge cancer care, we offer a program of innovative clinical trials and a full range of supportive care services to improve our patients' health and quality of life. LCCC brings together investigators whose mission is to identify and validate molecular pathways critical to the initiation, progression, maintenance and metastases of cancer.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences
At least 12 months’ experience in a lab setting
Familiarity with animal study, basic cell culture or molecular and biochemical techniques (for example, mice genotyping, PCR, Western blotting)
Possession of training – or willingness to be trained - in occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials, and/or ionizing radiation

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$17.50 - $26.16Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
