Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
This is a position of Co-Director, Flow Cytometry Core Facility. The individual will carry out and direct the day-to-day operations of the Flow Cytometry component of the Microscopy and Flow Cytometry Core (MFCC) of the NIH-supported COBRE Center for Targeted Therapeutics (CTT) at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. This individual will also interact with the Instrument Resource Facility (IRF) at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. The appointment will be made at the level of Research Associate Professor (non-tenure-track faculty).

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Doctoral degree in biomedical/bioengineering science with at least ten years of relevant experience in flow cytometry-based studies.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Experience conducting biomedical research, with expertise in cell culture and flow cytometry techniques and analysis. Additional skills are: intense attention to detail; patience in the operation of delicate and highly sophisticated equipment and developing technology; strong organizational skills; and the ability to read and follow operating manuals and procedures. The individual must be able to perform detailed and tedious work that requires the organization and tracking of large numbers of samples. The procedures require considerable dexterity, visual acuity, and a steady hand. The position also requires the ability to read the scientific literature and follow and develop research protocols.
