Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurobiology in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Assistant Professor (RAP) whose primary activity will be academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The RAP will be responsible for designing and implementing molecular, imaging and transcriptomic experiments to examine the role of the gut microbiome in modulation of pathology in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. The position entails histological assessments, RNA isolation and gene expression studies, and quantitative metabolomics, collecting and analyzing large datasets, writing manuscripts and applying for grants both as a member of the larger team and as an independent investigator. The appointee will ultimately create an independent research effort with dedicated extramural funding that complements existing strengths within our academic community. Prior to the start of employment, applicants must 1) have a doctoral degree or equivalent in Biological or Biomedical Sciences or related disciplines and 2) have completed postdoctoral training.
