Job Summary

Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience in public health research?  We are hiring three research assistants II to support our project.  This project collects and analyzes community health data to inform GCHD's future strategies.

This position has variable hours of 2 to 10 hours per week. Your work schedule will be determined after hire and you will report directly to a faculty member within the Public Health & Health Sciences Department.


Responsibilities*
  • Focus group discussions - assisting with moderate ten focus group discussions
  • Taking detailed notes during the focus group discussions
  • Transcription - assisting with transcription of focus group discussions
  • Data analysis - graduate students will assist in reporting preparation
  • Report writing - two graduate students will assist in reporting preparation

Required Qualifications*
  • University of Michigan-Flint graduate student in good standing
  • Physical presence in Flint, Michigan, is required for training sessions and in-person data collection activities
  • Commitment to completing the assigned tasks between April 2025 and May 2025
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic data entry and willingness to learn research tools (training provided)
  • One assistant, fluent in Arabic, will support focus groups with Arabic-speaking participants
  • One assistant, fluent in Spanish, will support focus groups with Spanish-speaking participants

Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience with public health, qualitative research, or survey administration is a plus

Modes of Work

On-site

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designed U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Background Screening
