Position Summary
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Idaho invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured position at Assistant or Associate Professor level. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in the college and department bylaws.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative researcher whose work focuses on one of the following key topics with applications in broader agricultural areas.
  • Bioremediation
  • Synthetic Biology
  • Microbiome Engineering
  • Biosensors

  • The successful candidate will contribute to advancing knowledge in biological engineering through research, teaching, and service. We are particularly interested in individuals who will develop externally funded research programs that address critical challenges in areas such as health, sustainable energy, and environmental engineering. The candidate will also have the opportunity to interface with the Deep Soil Ecotron — a $20M facility aimed at better understanding the role deep soil plays across multiple systems. This one-of-a-kind facility houses state-of-the-art monitoring technology, serving as an ideal testbed for novel soil biophysical and biological sensor development. This is an excellent opportunity for a scholar who is passionate about interdisciplinary research, fostering collaboration, and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
