The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate is to perform postdoctoral research in natural language processing as a member of Maarten Sap's group in the LTI at CMU.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conducting research in NLP and social intelligence of agents, ethics of AI and positive applications of AI (culture, mental health).
- Leading your own research projects
- Mentoring master's and PhD students.
- Helping with or performing other tasks to prepare you for faculty applications, such as grant writing, teaching, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field by the time of employment
- Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- A combination of education and meaningful experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
