The Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department at Carnegie Mellon University is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to solving complex healthcare challenges. Located within CMU's College of Engineering, the department emphasizes the integration of engineering principles with biomedical sciences to address pressing medical and biological issues. The department is characterized by its focus on creating impactful technologies and therapies that improve patient care and advance biomedical innovation globally.

The College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on a collaborative project between Carnegie Mellon University and Mayo Clinic to utilize extracellular vesicle to improve donor lung graft function and transplantation outcome.

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct research experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology of department and university.
• Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
• Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
• Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree required
• Experience with rodent animal surgery and lung transplantation, bioreactor and in vitro organ perfusion, mammalian cell culture, and histological/molecular/biochemical analysis
• A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
