Job Description

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)

* Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a closely related field.

* Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting molecular and cellular biology experiments, as well as genetics-based research, with strong data interpretation skills.

* Experience with CRISPR screen and CRISPRi.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Extensive experience with CRISPR screen and CRISPRi.

* Strong publication record, including first-author papers in peer-reviewed journals.

* Expertise in molecular genomic techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq data analysis).

* Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture.

* Experience in grant writing.

* Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and clarity of thought in scientific discussions.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator, Dr. Fei Chen in the Department of Pathology and Stony Brook Cancer Center . We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist with expertise in CRISPR screen and CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) to join our research team. The successful candidate will play a key role in investigating the epigenetic and genetic regulation of human cancers related to environmental and occupational exposures (e.g., mineral dust, carcinogenic metals, and chemical carcinogens).

Our lab has extensive expertise in metabolic and epigenetic reprogramming, malignant transformation, environmental microbiome interactions, and cancer stem-like cell generation in response to arsenic exposure.

The selected candidate will utilize cutting-edge techniques such as CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, CRISPRi, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, epitranscriptomics, and quantitative metabolomics to explore these mechanisms further. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment focused on mechanistic insights into cancer initiation and progression.

Key responsibilities:

* Conduct cutting-edge cancer research within the predetermined scope and methodology.

* Design and perform CRISPR-based genetic screens (CRISPR-Cas9, CRISPRi) to investigate gene regulatory networks in cancer biology.

* Collect, analyze, and interpret data, including literature review and applying specialized techniques in the field.

* Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to grant writing efforts.

* Maintain the laboratory, including equipment upkeep and ordering supplies as needed.

* Present research findings at scientific conferences and meetings.

* Ensure compliance with Stony Brook University's research policies and procedures.
