Position Overview
The Organizational Communication Graduate Program in the School of Professional Studies at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus invites qualified practitioner-scholars to submit applications that will be reviewed by the search committee and placed in a pool for consideration for part-time lecturer positions. A lecturer teaches graduate level courses and must possess an advanced terminal degree. A lecturer in a non-tenured, non-tenure track position with course instruction as the focus of this contract position. Classes and class days offered may vary each semester and are dependent upon curricular need, student enrollment and funding availability. All courses are offered online and include required weekly live/synchronous meetings and asynchronous activities. Lecturers report to the director of the Organizational Communication Graduate Program.

Successful candidates must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. Appointments are one semester, renewable and subject to review. Please note that individual class assignments each semester are subject to change and/or cancellation due to funding and student enrollment/demand.
Job Description
30% - Plans, prepares and presents brief recorded weekly content overview lectures (approx. 30 minutes) AND facilitates one synchronous, interactive weekly evening class session via Zoom for one graduate course in organizational communication based on an approved course syllabus. Live weekly class sessions are recorded and posted to Blackboard for student reference. Courses are 8-weeks in length and required live Zoom class sessions are facilitated from 6:30 – 9:00pm Central Time, typically on Monday or Thursday evenings.
30% - Provides timely, meaningful, supportive feedback on assignments both verbally in class and on written assignments via the learning management system to students in support of individual growth and maintaining an inviting classroom climate.
20% - Maintains office hour availability at times convenient for working adult students, and offers timely response to student questions via email. Engages with individual students in a way that demonstrates awareness of and respect for difference -- and a commitment to an inviting learning environment for all.
20% - Updates existing PowerPoints, written assignment instructions, and discussions boards within learning management system (Blackboard) as needed to support student learning in each class section. Maintains well-organized, accurate and easy to navigate content within Blackboard.
