Position Summary | The Assistant Dean, Clinical Affairs is the leader responsible for overseeing clinical placement, simulation, and staff nurse educators at the College of Nursing (CON). The position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Community and Clinical Affairs and is expected to perform with a high level of responsibility and independence. This is a leadership position, which includes an active role with the Dean’s Administrative Leadership group; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, interprofessional and community engagement. This person will provide a vital role in the development of nursing students in clinical programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as facilitate a culture of effective mentorship. The incumbent is expected to engage in teaching, maintain an active program of scholarship, and service with a consistent record of funding support appropriate for faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (clinician educator or tenure track). This individual will work collaboratively with administration across the CON faculty, staff, and students to ensure all students have a productive clinical experience including simulation. They will be responsible for recruiting appropriate clinical placement sites, ensuring all appropriate agreements are in place and agency requirements are met for students’ rotations within and external to University of New Mexico. This includes negotiating agreements with agencies throughout the United States and occasionally overseas. Ensuring student compliance to meet state, school, and clinical site requirements. Qualifications | Minimum Qualifications · A PhD, DNP or related doctorate · Must be eligible for rank of Assistant Professor or higher · Must be eligible for nursing licensure in New Mexico · Leadership experience in clinical nursing education
Preferred Qualifications: · A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities · Eligible for rank of Associate Professor or Professor · Experience in: o securing and maintaining clinical partners relations o generating, maintaining, and managing clinical contracts o management and supervision of a team o planning and development of simulation o relevant nursing certification (e.g., CNE, CNE- cl, CHSE) |
