Network Engineer I
VP Technology/Infrastructure
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Network Engineer I safeguards the reliability and credibility of internal voice, data, video, and wireless networks. This vital position operates under the guidance of senior engineering experts. The achievement of this goal revolves around meticulous planning, innovative design, and skillful development of both local area networks (LANs) and metro area networks (MANs) that span the entirety of the organization.
Furthermore, the Network Engineer plays an active role in the installation, vigilant monitoring, consistent maintenance, adept support, and fine-tuning of all network-related hardware, software, and communication links. This includes the proactive analysis and resolution of both hardware and software issues that may arise, all executed promptly and with precision. Additionally, this position offers valuable end-user training whenever necessary, contributing to a holistic approach in enhancing network functionality and user proficiency.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Familiarity with Local Area Networks (LANs), Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), and Wide Area Networks (WANs), including introductory design and setup.
• Understanding of network security principles and foundational network management practices.
• Awareness of network technologies from vendors like Dell, Aruba, Cisco, and Palo Alto.
• Proficiency in hardware troubleshooting skills, capable of addressing simple issues.
• Knowledge of data circuit testing tools and procedures.
• Grasp of the organization's overall goals and objectives.
• Recognition of data privacy practices and laws related to networking.
• Communication skills for collaboration and information sharing within the team.
• Ability to learn and research networking topics and products.
• Skill in following technical instructions and communicating them effectively.
• Attention to detail in network tasks and activities.
• Problem-solving skills for straightforward network issues.
• Task prioritization in a controlled work environment.
• Customer service orientation and positive attitude.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to shared goals.
Required Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 3 months of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with incident management tools such as Service Now.
• Possession of any entry-level networking certifications (CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA).
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
