Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) MIME Office Assistant position for the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU).
The School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) is hiring for a Student Office Support position. This is a work-study funded position. Full time is considered to be 20 hours per week. Hours are negotiable to accommodate student schedule, within reason. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Supervisor.
Position Duties
This position provides office support in a busy, high-volume student population workplace. Person will be responsible for scanning, organizing, and categorizing confidential student information; scheduling appointments for and taking senior class pictures; data entry of significant quantities of materials; as well as other duties as assigned. Persons in this position are expected to have skills in Microsoft Office Suite; Excel; Photoshop experience is a plus, but is not necessary; and the ability to work in a fast paced office setting.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
30% General office duties, organizing, and replenishing office supplies
30% Receiving, securing, labeling, and cataloging mail and packages delivered to office; informing all recipients via email of their mail/packages
20% Scanning and categorizing confidential and time sensitive materials
10% Assist front reception desk answering questions either over the phone or in person for a high-volume school
5% Assisting in MIME events
5% Ensure office is well-ordered and tidy

Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
