What will you be doing in this role?
The Manager, Payroll Tax, will lead all aspects of payroll tax operations. This role entails ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of payroll tax filings, and proactively addressing sophisticated payroll tax issues. This role will navigate and oversee the evolving payroll tax landscape, providing guidance and support to internal teams, and driving process improvements to optimize operational efficiency. Duties include:
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local taxes in all applicable states and jurisdictions.
- Oversee, prepare and file all required payroll tax returns, related payments, and reports bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually as applicable.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of payroll tax liabilities and payments.
- Research and stay up-to-date with changes in federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, proactively addressing their impact on the organization.
- Provide expert guidance, solutions and support to employees and management regarding payroll tax matters.
- Foster effective collaboration with internal and external partners to ensure accurate and timely payroll tax processing and filing.
- Address and resolve payroll tax inquiries, discrepancies, and audits with efficiency and expertise.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve payroll tax processes and procedures to enhance accuracy and compliance.
- Implement and maintain payroll tax processes and procedures and ensure adherence and compliance to all federal, state and local regulatory guidelines as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Manage resources effectively to meet budgetary targets without compromising operational excellence.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor staff, fostering professional development and a culture of high performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. CPA a plus.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll tax processing in a multi-state environment/organization required. Big 4 experience a plus.
