Successful candidates will teach one section of CSP 103,  which serves as an introduction to the rigorous mathematical reasoning required at the University of Michigan. These 3 credit courses will meet in person for two hours, three days per week. All sections of the course will meet on MWF, but teaching times will vary depending on the section to which the instructor is assigned.

All faculty teaching sections of CSP 103/104 are also paired with a course assistant, who will attend class and lead evening workshops to support students both in attaining content mastery and in acquiring broader intellectual skills in quantitative reasoning and beyond.

  • Balance academic rigor with support
  • Devote extra time and effort to students outside class via additional office hours for individualized instruction (conferences)
  • Provide students with regular, meaningful feedback on assignments
  • Provide feedback to CSP Academic Advisors regarding student academic progress.
  • Relevant teaching experience and qualifications, including demonstrated evidence of outstanding teaching will determine the selection of a candidate.

Successful applicants must be qualified, both in content mastery and teaching experience, to teach concept-and-application-based precalculus and hold at least a bachelor degree in mathematics or related discipline. Faculty must demonstrate a commitment to meeting students where they are, and helping students feel valued  and supported in their learning.

Master degree (or higher) in Mathematics, and at least 3-years of experience teaching at the college level is highly desired.
