The Department of Statistics, at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park location, invites applications at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor depending on candidates’ qualifications.

Education and Experience:

Candidates at the Lecturer level must have a master’s degree or terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date.

Candidates for Assistant Teaching Professor must possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date.  Alternatively, candidates may have a master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field and have demonstrated ability as a teacher and advisor.

Candidates at the Associate Teaching Professor must possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date, have demonstrated ability as a teacher and advisor, and show evidence of professional development and scholarship.

Candidates for Teaching Professor must possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date, have demonstrated exceptional ability as a teacher and advisor, and show evidence of a high level of professional development and scholarship.

Applicants must have a master’s or terminal degree (Ph.D.) in statistics, data science, or a closely related field by appointment start date; at a minimum a master’s degree is required. The courses for which this position would be responsible may range in level from introductory undergraduate to upper-level undergraduate statistics and data science courses. There is also the possibility that the qualified candidate(s) would be expected to teach graduate-level statistics and data science service courses for non-statistics students. Examples of courses the faculty member may be expected to teach include a capstone course for statistics majors and a course on introductory data science and computing. If desired, the opportunity to occasionally teach in an online setting or to help design/redesign courses that benefit our majors is also a possibility.
