Job Description
Montgomery College, Rockville & Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campuses, each has an immediate need for a Full-time Instructional Assistant in the Assessment and Testing Centers unit. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some evening and weekend hours during peak periods and traveling between college campuses and locations. This is a Bargaining, Non-exempt, Grade 23 position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare materials such as handouts and set up equipment for testing lab.
- Identify maintenance issues related to supporting instructional activities, and clean up and put away materials after testing session.
- May maintain statistics regarding student use of learning resources and prepares reports and other written materials regarding operation of laboratories, centers and learning resources.
- Provide system software training and end user support.
- Install, set up and maintain software and hardware desktop computers. Maintain hardware and software by troubleshooting and correcting problems.
- Provide information on the use of instructional technology (e.g., computers and software applications) to students.
- Provide direction to students by reviewing and implementing test submission.
- Assist with resource materials, research, select and/or recommend such materials, and answer questions regarding the use of such materials.
- Administer assessment and other tests to students.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and materials, computer hardware and software, including associated parts, manuals and other documentation, laboratory supplies and equipment, or technical and trades tools, materials and equipment, and other learning resources.
- Specific responsibilities may vary based on the academic discipline associated with the laboratory.
- Provides effective and clear written and verbal communication to students, faculty, and stakeholders
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Two (2) years of related experience employing methods and techniques in instructional technology and assisting students in understanding the assigned subject area.
- Use Current and applicable hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, including personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and Windows-based applications.
- Operate laboratory equipment efficiently and safely.
- Communicate effectively (both written and verbal) to share information.
- Work well with others in a team environment.
- Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in one of the following most commonly spoken second languages in Montgomery
- County - (Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, Vietnamese, or French).
- Experience with learning management systems and student information programs and platforms such as: Banner, Starfish, Blackboard, online proctoring platform, Register Blast, and MS Teams.
Hiring Range: $25.18 to $32.73/hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $40.28/hourly.
