Job Summary
The College of Graduate and Continuing Studies at East Tennessee State University is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Graduate Program Specialist to join our team. This pivotal role supports the academic journey of graduate students from the earliest stages of inquiry through to graduation. Reporting to the Dean or their designee, the Graduate Program Specialist provides individualized advising, coordinates cohort activities, and ensures accurate record-keeping throughout the student lifecycle. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of university admission, registration, fee payment, financial aid and graduation requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and programs including new versions of Microsoft Office/Windows and internet browsers.
  • Knowledge of Graduate School policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of university policies, procedures, structure, and services offered.
  • Knowledge of student services and retention strategies.
  • Knowledge of BANNER student information system, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application system, and records management.
  • Knowledge of SACSCOC and THEC policies, guidelines, and criteria for accreditation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to large groups or individuals.
  • Abililty to counsel students regarding university related matters.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work independently in a detail-oriented environment and mange confidential data.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two (2) years of experience in admissions, registration, or graduation office, or in another relevant higher education setting

OR
  • Associate’s degree or two years of college
  • Four (4) years of experience in admissions, registration, or graduation office, or in another relevant higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience in areas related to student success, advisement, retention, and/or engagement.
