Job Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Football Human Performance/Nutrition this position will provide individual nutritional counseling and educational services to TCU Football student-athletes. Develop effective sport-specific nutrition educational presentations and handout materials for student athletes. Maintain ongoing communications with coaching staffs, strength & conditioning staff, athletic trainers, team physicians, mental health staff, and administration regarding nutritional issues affecting student athletes. This position includes supervisory role over associate and undergraduate interns in addition to department responsibilities related to football fueling station daily operations.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Develops and maintains partnerships and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders dedicated to student athlete success including athletic trainers and sports medicine professionals, strength and conditioning coaches, director of operations, team coaches, and other staff members as required.
2. Provides medical nutrition therapy, conduct individual nutrition assessments, counseling services, nutrition education, and all other nutrition services for football.
3. Works in conjunction with director of operations to plan/coordinate meals for home and away travel and competition for various teams.
4. Oversees team satellite fueling stations: ordering, inventory, delivery management, staffing, product evaluation, and supplement distribution.
5. Conducts and develops evidence-based directives regarding measuring body composition, hydration testing, and other areas of applied nutrition science.
6. Manages student volunteers/team interns.
7. Serves as nutrition consultant for team’s athletes in collaboration with support staff, coaches, and other staff members directly related to the football program.
8. Participates with team recruiting logistics as pertaining to nutrition.
9. Maintains dietetic registration, licensure and continuing education.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Exercise Science or similar
• 2 years in sports nutrition / dietitian in a collegiate or professional athletic environment
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
• Licensed Dietitian in the State of Texas
• Must be insurable under the University Motor Vehicle Requirements
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
• Licensed Dietitian in the State of Texas
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must be insurable under the University Motor Vehicle Requirements
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• CSCS, SCCC, or any sports nutrition/performance related certifications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
• Knowledge of NCAA, USADA, WADA policies and regulations on banned and impermissible substances
• Knowledge in food safety procedures and working with food service operations
• Skill in excellent communication, presentation and counseling techniques
• Ability to work in a team setting with other athletics professionals and coaches.
• Ability to maintains staff confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Ability to promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, to include adhering to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA.
• Ability to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
• Ability to contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 15 lbs.
Work Environment:
• Work is indoors and outdoors and is not sedentary and is subject to schedule changes, and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• Travel with team is required for all competitions.
