The Opportunity:
The Fiscal Specialist supports the Energy Program in providing specialized fiscal support for the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences. The Fiscal Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of professional financial reviews and analysis of fiscal and budget data including, preparing monthly budget reconciliations, including the sources of funds for expenses; monitoring budgets; reviewing actual expenses monthly, financial commitment tracking, and coordinating communication to the Energy Program Team regarding balances and funding issues. This position also provides unit level coordination, review, and pre-approval of personnel, payroll, and position management actions for the Energy program. This position is responsible for performing, coordinating, and overseeing a variety of professional financial and policy reviews and analysis Energy personnel actions, including funding, salary values, personnel requests, preparing reports, and troubleshooting.
This position will support Washington State University's Energy Program, which provides unmatched energy services, products, education and information to advance the economic and environmental well-being of our many diverse clients and partners.
Required Qualifications:
Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill proficiency of financial, administrative systems, or similar systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel Word, PowerPoint), AIS applications, Budget Planning System, and Business Objects. Preferred advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Sound knowledge of WSU Business Policies and Procedures.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,728 - $4,987 | Range 43 Steps A-M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 .
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
