Job Summary
The Director of Leadership Annual Giving and pipeline reports to the Senior of Annual Giving and oversees all aspects of University Advancement’s leadership annual giving efforts and works closely with campus areas to help promote the best practices in this space. The Director of Leadership Annual Giving is responsible for promoting and instilling best practices to maintain and grow the community of donors and gifts to the U. This is accomplished by fulfilling the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities
· Build and manage the leadership annual giving officers and provide them with the needed tools, skills, and guidance to succeed. Increase this team from 1 to 4 full-time officers.
· Supervise the Manager of the Student Philanthropy and Engagement Center. Oversee the development of leads, upgrades, and donor pipeline development from the center.
· Cultivate student fundraisers and Manager into potential LAG and/or DXO programs.
· Collaborate with other areas within University Advancement and campus partners to achieve goals and bring in more donors (Specifically, the teams of Gift Processing, Prospect Management, Legacy Giving, and Stewardship teams).
· Be a pipeline building expert and service provider for university campus areas. On behalf of campus areas, execute leadership annual giving strategies that follow best practice. Campus areas include 18 colleges, U Alumni, University of Utah Health, five on-campus arts organizations, and other non-academic campus areas. With a priority given to constituent units directly supported by University Advancement.
· Develop and execute university-wide solicitation and upgrade strategies for the donor cycles of discovery, leadership annual gifts, upgrades, and hand-offs to major or principal gifts.
· Implement a robust plan for leadership annual giving level donors, stewardship and leads with both the Annual Giving Team and Central Donor Relations Team.
· Work one on one with a portfolio of individual donors (up to 75) to cultivate and solicit upper-level annual gifts and select major gifts.
· Help drive competitions such as March Forward, Giving Day, end of calendar year, and other gift acquisition and engagement programs that empower frontline fundraisers.
· Analyze and report on results to guide future annual giving strategy and inform university leadership of annual progress and long-term trends.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, English, or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Five years experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, business, public relations, annual, corporate or foundation giving which includes two years of budgeting and supervisory experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in grant or proposal writing, public speaking, a background working with print and/or electronic media, an understanding of university fundraising practices and personnel management is preferred.
