Position Responsibilities


Position Summary
This position is for a Non-Tenure Track, Clinical Assistant Professor in Economics will teach a seven-course load (21 credits) in Economics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels (public finance, econometrics, principles of microeconomics, and principles of macroeconomics). The faculty member will demonstrate expertise in business economics, with the ability to deliver high-quality and innovative courses in both traditional classroom and online environments. This position also entails scholarly or practitioner-oriented research and intellectual contributions, staying abreast of industry trends. Additionally, the faculty member will play a vital role in advising students, demonstrating a commitment to their academic and professional development. Active involvement in both outreach and extension activities to foster connections with professional organizations and the business community is expected, as well as service and leadership contributions to the department, college, and university. This clinical faculty position is non-tenure track at assistant professor rank.

Contingency Description
This faculty appointment is contingent on funding and/or work to support the position. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event of insufficient funding and/or work, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may: (1) change this Agreement by adjusting the employee’s FTE and annual salary throughout the contract year; or (2) terminate this Agreement and employee’s employment prior to the end of the term of appointment, upon 60 days written notice. Employee further acknowledges and agrees that in the event termination for insufficient funding and/or work becomes necessary, the notice provisions of Faculty Staff Handbook 3900B will not apply.

Qualifications


Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications
  • MS in Economics or related field
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Experience conducting applied or academic research

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Economics, Applied Economics or related field
  • Ability to teach applied Econometrics to business majors
  • Record of teaching excellence
  • Evidence of a research agenda
  • Ability to bring business acumen into the classroom
