Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) anticipates hiring a BSW Program Director on the IU Bloomington campus. The BSW Program Director is a twelve month, non-tenure track faculty appointment. The BSW Program Director provides collaborative leadership and administrative coordination for the BSW program at IUB, including recruitment, advisement, and support of BSW students matriculating on the IUB campus, and recruitment and support of associate faculty for the BSW program. The Program Director will also have teaching responsibilities and will participate in service activities such as the IUSSW BSW curriculum committee and other relevant school, campus, university, or community committees or groups as required.
The BSW Program Director reports directly to the IUB Campus Director to administer the program on the Bloomington campus and to address needs that arise in the specific campus and community context. This individual will be expected to collaborate and consult with the Senior BSW Program Director at IUI to ensure consistency in policies, curriculum, and student support between the program at IUB and on our other IUSSW campuses. The person in this role will also work collaboratively with the IUSSW Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the IUSSW system-wide program directors/coordinators including the Directors of Admissions, Career Services, Field Education, and Recruitment to ensure compliance with all processes and procedures of the IUSSW.
The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW), founded in 1911, is a university-wide system school with CSWE-accredited MSW and BSW Programs since 1923 and 1975 respectively, reaffirmed in 2021. School headquarters are located at Indiana University – Indianapolis with programs on eight IU campuses. The School is a founding member of the University’s health sciences Interprofessional Practice and Education Center, creating opportunities for students and faculty. IU provides faculty opportunities for competitive funding to support timely and innovative research, such as the Racial Justice Research Fund for which five of our faculty received awards. The School’s annual enrollment totals approximately 1,800 students across programs (PhD, MSW, BSW) and campuses. With current leadership under Dean Kalea Benner, the School encompasses eight campuses plus an online MSW program and a Center for Social Health and Well-Being to advance impact, with our explicit commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) serving as a central guiding pillar.
IU Bloomington Campus: IU Bloomington is the University’s flagship residential campus. Basic Qualifications
Qualifications for the BSW Program Director include a doctoral level degree in social work, master of social work, two years post-master’s experience and at least three years of experience in a social work education setting; command of CSWE accreditation standards; demonstrated excellence in public relations; excellent written and oral communication skills; and demonstrated skill in curriculum development and academic program monitoring and evaluation.
