Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following full-time position: Associate Director of Internships & Experiential Learning in the Office of Career Services.
This position directs internships and experiential learning for Coastal Carolina University and oversees the development and coordination of internships and experiential learning opportunities for students. Provides professional and strategic leadership for all aspects of internship and experiential learning practices as well as the implementation and reporting of experiences, including, but not limited to: coordination of policies, procedures and actual practices; data collection and reporting; acting as liaison with businesses, community organizations and university departments; assessing and reporting the effectiveness of such programs, serving on committees that support this work; and providing supervision to student staff as needed.

Student Services Manager I (CB75/61122179), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 06. Salary range: $46,655.00 - $68,000.00. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. No overnight travel except as relating to possible conferences and continuing education opportunities. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.


Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: 
Provides professional and strategic leadership, coordination, and management for ongoing, uniform internship and experiential learning delivery system so as to: record accurate data concerning student participation; “qualify” such experiences so that all parties understand expectations; and ensure that student and employer liability issues are addressed uniformly and appropriately. Compiles requested internship data for annual reporting for Institutional Research, Risk Management, and Career Services. Initiates new partnerships and manages ongoing engagement with current employer and faculty partners to facilitate internship approval and placement processes.
Directs internship contracts, requirements and evaluation criteria and serves as liaison with related administrative offices and faculty. Represents the University to educate employers and community partners on the internship and experiential learning process, monitors progress, and assists with events involving internship employers and partners. Coordinates response to faculty or administrative requests for contact with appropriate employers for recruitment and information sessions for specific majors and departments in conjunction with Employer Engagement team. 
Provides personal Career Development Counseling to students and alumni including professional development, job skills coaching, cover letter/resume/CV development, job networking skills, internship/job search strategies, graduate school planning, and interviewing skills. 
Provides current and relevant career education in the form of online and printed resources, class presentations, faculty presentations, employer presentations, workshops, seminars and other presentations and programs.



Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Student Personnel Administration, or closely related field. Minimum of three (3) years related experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Career Services in a college or university working with career assessment instruments, advising students on career goals and job search strategies, and facilitating placement of graduates in jobs and other work experiences. Experience working with outreach, marketing, and social media efforts. Three (3) years of experience in these areas preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to develop relationships with students, alumni, parents, employers, and faculty/staff members for purposes of facilitating the identification of, and application to, securing graduate school and employment opportunities, and facilitating internships and experiential learning opportunities for students. Excellent communication skills including: ability to create and deliver public presentations and meet the public, multi-task and work well independently as well as with a team, ability to program one’s own work schedule while remaining flexible in relation to changing developments in a fast-paced office, working knowledge of career development theory, experience in the administration and interpretation of career-assessment testing instruments, experience in job/career placement of college/university graduates, experience in utilizing social media and marketing in a career services setting, ability to effectively utilize technology in managing workload, data collection and time schedule management. Ability to effectively meet with students and alumni to provide personal career development counseling, resume/CV development, interviewing skills through one-to-one counseling; the ability to utilize career assessment instruments in a counseling session; to be able to effectively speak publicly and present seminars and workshops on Career Services related subjects; the ability to meet with parents, faculty, staff and employers to further determine needs; demonstrate knowledge of Career Counseling techniques and utilization of career assessment instruments. Understanding of outreach, marketing, and social media. Must be able to effectively utilize technology in assessment, data collection and management. Ability to recruit employers and community partners for the purpose of student placement in internships and experiential learning opportunities. Knowledge of current technology associated with such placements. Ability to lead diverse teams.
