Job Summary
This is an Internal Employment Opportunity.
The College of Health is seeking an Associate Dean of Research. This is a part-time (0.50 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Associate Dean for Research (ADR) must be a current tenured member of the faculty of the College of Health (COH) at Oregon State University. The ADR shall have a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence in all of its dimensions and the interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, central administration, alumni, the public-at-large, and professional societies.
The ADR will serve at the pleasure of the Dean and works as part of the senior administrative leadership team of the College, consisting of the Dean, Associate Deans, and School Heads. Together, they are responsible for executive functions, including policy development, strategic planning, budget and fiscal planning and overseeing the operations of the units within the College.
While the faculty member is in this position, a separate appointment with indefinite tenure on a 9-month basis with 0.50 FTE in a COH academic program/school will combine with this 0.50 FTE ADR position to provide a full time 1.0 FTE position over the 9-month academic year and .50 FTE during the summer. A separate position description outlines the duties in the 0.50 FTE tenured position.
COH’s new strategic plan, “Health and Well-Being for All ,” sets college goals, actions, and tactics for 2025-2030, which also advance the university’s strategic plan, “Prosperity Widely Shared .” The ADR is responsible for fostering a diverse research portfolio, including funded research from governmental and non-governmental sources, and reflecting the scientific bread of the disciplines and fields that comprise the College. The ADR’s efforts are essential to reaching all goals of the College strategic plan. Primary responsibilities involve advancing tactics for building and cultivating research excellence, which also require building and strengthening partnerships and promoting all forms of research productivity (e.g., articles, books, citations, awards) and translation (e.g., policy, industry relations, innovation and entrepreneurship). These efforts will reinforce the College’s signature research areas (environmental impacts on human health, health promotion and disease prevention, and health and wellbeing of children and youth) as well as intersections with the university’s signature areas (especially integrated health and biotechnology, climate science, AI applications, and data science).
Also as described in the COH strategic plan, the College is deeply committed to upholding the values of inclusive excellence and infusing them into every goal, action, and tactic. These commitments are also central to the ADRs efforts in advancing the College’s vision of health and well-being for every person, every family, and every community.
