Position Highlights | The Department of Political Economy and Moral Science (PEMS) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in PPEL (philosophy, politics, economics and law) beginning in August 2025. The PEMS Department sponsors an undergraduate major program in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law (PPEL) and a master’s program in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). The PEMS position is a joint initiative with the University of Arizona Center for the Philosophy of Freedom (Freedom Center), an interdisciplinary center that provides research, teaching and programming at the intersection of philosophy, economic, law and ethics. The successful candidate will promote the interdisciplinary mission of the PPEL and PPE programs, as well as that of the Freedom Center. They will be required to teach: (i) core courses in the PPEL and PPE programs, (ii) advanced PPEL and PPE elective courses, and (iii) introductory PPEL courses that also serve the University of Arizona’s general education program. The successful applicant will also be a core faculty member in the Freedom Center. Applications received by April 18, 2025 will be given greatest attention. The PEMS Department is housed within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and is home to an interdisciplinary faculty.
