The Chemistry Department at Saginaw Valley State University invites a diverse pool of applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology for Fall 2025

JOB SUMMARY:  The successful candidate will teach analytical chemistry (instrumental analysis and quantitative analysis) lectures and labs.  Additional teaching assignments will include freshman level courses for both chemistry majors and non-majors. While emphasis is placed on teaching, the successful candidate also will develop an active undergraduate research program.  We especially welcome candidates whose research interests complement those of the current faculty. 
The ACS-approved Chemistry Department is fully equipped and is housed in a 106,000 sq. ft. Science Complex with modern, well-equipped chemistry laboratories. For additional details, see: http://www.svsu.edu/chemistry/.  Other resources include the Saginaw Bay Environmental Science Institute (https://www.svsu.edu/sbesi/) with its water quality laboratory housed in the Chemistry Department as well as the SVSU Mobile Research Lab (https://www.svsu.edu/stem/).  


Plans also are currently underway for the construction of a brand new Environmental Science Research Station on Saginaw Bay, slated for completion in late 2027.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A  Ph.D. (or ABD) in analytical chemistry or closely related field is required. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-doctoral and/or teaching experience is desirable.
