This position is primarily engaged in teaching, research and service.
The candidate must hold, the doctorate (or recognized terminal degree) from an acceptable accredited institution in the field of specialization or closely related discipline at the time of hire.
Must have developing program of scholarly research, experience in teaching, or professional work of high caliber, and willingness to participates in University related service duties at least at the departmental level.
General Description/Primary Purpose:
The Department of Public Health is seeking a 9 month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor of Public Health in the CEPH accredited Master of Public Health and Public Health Undergraduate Programs to start Fall 2025. This position will report to Weimin Gao, Chair of the Department of Public Health. Position responsibilities include teaching in both the MPH and BSH programs to include graduate Health Communication and Theory of Health Behavior; teaching additional graduate and undergraduate courses in social and behavioral sciences or other specific content in the candidate’s area of expertise per program needs; conducting and publishing research in areas of expertise; seeking extramural funding; and performing university, community, and professional service. The teaching load is two courses each fall and spring, with the opportunity to teach one course in the summer.
Anticipated Start Date: The position is expected to begin on August 4, 2025.

Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Public Health with an emphasis in Social and Behavioral Sciences or a Doctorate in a closely related field with a Master’s degree in Public Health; doctoral degree conferred no later than August 1, 2025; proven record of, or potential for, excellence in teaching; proven record of, or potential for, extramural funding and scholarly research leading to peer-reviewed publications; commitment to university, community, and professional service.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills: Graduate degree(s) from CEPH accredited school or program of public health.
