Job Description:
SUNY Polytechnic Institute is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Quantum Sensing or Networks. The successful candidate will have expertise in the development and application of quantum technologies for sensing and networking, including but not limited to quantum communication, quantum-enhanced metrology, and quantum network protocols. We are looking for individuals who can build a collaborative research program, contribute to the university's strategic focus on quantum science, and educate and mentor the next generation of scientists. We also seek individuals that are eager to help SUNY Poly strengthen its presence within the Mohawk Valley's burgeoning quantum technology ecosystem, which includes quantum research teams located at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate in Rome, NY. AFRL is also home to a quantum-focused Extreme Computing Facility in partnership with the Innovare Advancement Center at the Griffiss Institute, a nonprofit talent and technology accelerator for the United States Department of Defense, to drive open innovation and collaboration at Innovare Advancement Center.

The successful candidate will:
- Establish and lead an innovative, externally funded research program in quantum sensing or networks.
- Investigate novel quantum sensing techniques for applications in fields such as precision measurement, environmental monitoring, and healthcare.
- Explore the development of quantum communication protocols, quantum cryptography, and integrated quantum networks.
- Publish high-impact research papers in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, both within and outside of the department, to advance quantum technologies.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to quantum mechanics, quantum computing, and quantum information science.
- Mentor and advise graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and undergraduate students.
- Contribute to the development of the quantum science and technology curriculum and engage in departmental and university service.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 Assistant, $100,000 - $110,000 Associate, $110,000 - $140,000 Full Professor

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on quantum technologies, from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization.
- A demonstrated research record in quantum sensing, quantum networks, or a closely related area.
- Experience in developing and implementing quantum experiments or working with quantum devices.
- Ability to teach quantum information science, and related courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postdoctoral experience in quantum sensing, quantum communications, or quantum networks.
- A track record of interdisciplinary collaboration in quantum research.
- Expertise in using emerging technologies such as superconducting qubits, trapped ions, or integrated photonics for sensing or network protocols.
- Experience with grant writing and a demonstrated ability to secure external funding.
- Strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within academia and the scientific community.
