ROLE of the POSITION
This person in this position reports to the Program Director (PD) of the Bachelor of Science of Applied Health Sciences (AHS). This position assists the PD with day-to-day in person operational management of the AHS program. These duties include course scheduling and serving as the primary liaison with AHS student workers, peer mentors, tutors, and part time instructors. In support of AHS student recruitment, retention, progression, and graduation, the person in this position will work closely with Health Sciences Advising, UNLV Academic Affairs, and UNLV Student Affairs for New Student Orientations and other university events. The Administrative Program Coordinator will work with the PD and AHS faculty to develop and maintain policies and procedures that supports the UNLV Top Tier 2.0 mission, university business requirements, and an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture.
Duties for the Administrative Program Coordinator for AHS include the following:
Assist the Program Director with advertising, interviewing, hiring, and scheduling of part time instructors, student workers, and peer tutors.
Serve as the primary contact person for the same individuals.
Secure tutors for graduate and other entrance exams for course specific AHS capstone options.
Assist the Program Director with efforts to establish and maintain collaborations with healthcare providers to serve as AHS part time instructors and mentors.
Assist the Program Director with efforts to establish and maintain collaborations with UNLV faculty to serve as AHS part time instructors and mentors.
Assist with the planning of class schedules for the AHS program (Fall, Spring, Summer).
Be the primary liaison with UNLV Scheduling and accurately input the schedule into PeopleSoft software according to schedule production calendars.
Coordinate enrollment tracking and program-specific student applications with Health Sciences Advising.
Assist with the procurement and maintenance of reports of student retention, progression, and graduation and other data projects as assigned.
Establish and maintain collaboration with campus units to schedule space for AHS courses and student-support events.
Organize AHS interactions with UNLV New Student Orientations, Rebel Preview, Rebel Ready, AHS orientations, and other events.
Manage accounts and purchasing for the department according to general accounting principles as required by UNLV.
P-Card liaison for the director, ensures that department P-Cards transactions for self and director are reconciled and monies are spent using the appropriate budgeted account. Coordinate with purchasing to ensure proper use of all P- Cards within the department.
Department liaison for business transactions within the university for vendors and external organizations.
Prepare reports and budget documents according to specific instructions as requested.
Manage day-to-day operations for the AHS program.
Maintain confidential files and personnel records for the program.
Oversight of office supplies, inventoried equipment and software license and media.
Provide yearly inventory reports in Asset Works.
PROFILE OF THE PROGRAM AND SCHOOL
The AHS program is housed within the Office of the Dean for the School of Integrated Health Sciences. Other departments and programs within the school include Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy, the Doctorate of Occupational Therapy program, and the Department of Health Physics and Diagnostic Sciences.
The AHS program allows undergraduate students to customize an academic pathway toward 1) application to an accredited undergraduate or graduate healthcare program; and 2) entry-level careers in healthcare and wellness environments.
Multiple career opportunities exist for knowledgeable, ethical, and compassionate healthcare professionals. Well-trained providers are needed in hospitals, care facilities, physician group practices, corporate and not-for-profit organizations, and health-related organizations. AHS will provide a meaningful foundation with specific concentrations for careers in health physics, comprehensive medical imaging, physical or occupational therapy, medicine, dental medicine, physician assistantship, and other clinical or academic graduate programs. In addition to a rigorous preparation in health sciences courses, students will receive a broad general education emphasizing critical thinking and developing effective oral and written communication skills. The program's flexibility will allow informed students to select coursework that meets their academic and professional goals and complete the degree in a timely manner. A dedicated AHS will provide a positive educational experience that fosters student success for students in the program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, as recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), along with at least two (2) yearsof verifiable, comparable experience.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
Key qualities include exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, fostering positive and constructive communication.
The candidate should also be adaptable to shifting priorities inherent to the university calendar and capable of connecting meaningfully with first-generation and traditionally underserved students.
Additionally, the successful candidate must exhibit a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, actively engaging in values-driven strategic planning while prioritizing a respectful and positive workplace. All required credentials must be obtained before the designated start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess a high level of expertise in all Google Suite applications, including Google Calendar, video conferencing tools, Google Drive, and Google Forms.
Familiarity with university, school, and departmental policies is essential, as is proficiency in utilizing a variety of university databases and applications such as Salesforce, Workday, Archibus, and PeopleSoft.
Experience supporting students is highly preferred, with 1-3 years in roles such as advising, instruction, student affairs, or peer mentorship being particularly valuable.
