Adjunct Instructor – Paramedic

Summary

The Paramedic Adjunct Instructor professionally educates, trains, and develops students in all Paramedic courses. Adjuncts are responsible for activities directly related to scheduled instruction. This can include lecture, labs, clinical, performance, and coaching assignments, as well as student assessment, grading, and testing. The overall teaching goal of the Adjunct instructor is to prepare the EMS student to serve at the entry point of the emergency services. Adjuncts are tasked with assisting the Lead instructor in the delivery of the course material in relief coverage.


Essential Functions

Assist the Lead Paramedic Instructor as directed; this can include:

  • Take attendance

  • Review student homework assignments prior to the start of every class.

  • Follow the syllabus and training plans as laid out by the Training Coordinator and Coordinator Staff, and Medical Director.

  • Maintain current the EMS Program LMS platform in conjunction with the Program Coordinator.

  • Complete required CoAEMSP student evaluations each term.

  • Ensure classroom and lab space is properly policed, and equipment is maintained, neat, clean, and in full working order.

  • Ensure all EMS equipment is organized and placed back in stock prior to leaving each class.

  • Teach for the entire duration of the class period, maximizing the instruction with the available class time.

  • Follow all rules, regulations, policies, etc. set forth by the Director and Coordinator staff.

  • Adhere to 64-J Bureau of EMS Florida Administration Codes.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Vocational/technical training in the field of Paramedic/Firefighter is required. An associate's degree is preferred.

  • 2-5 years of proven experience.

  • Must be certified as a Florida paramedic in good standing with the department or be a licensed Registered Nurse in good standing and have at least three years of field provider experience with an ALS provider.

The Paramedic Adjunct Instructor will:

  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education training when deemed necessary.

  • Have Intermediate experience using Windows and the MS Office Suite.

  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
