Summary

The Adjunct Clinical Instructor for the EMS program is responsible for clinical instruction and preceptorship at

Barry affiliated clinical sites. The instructor provides continuous on-site instruction for EMT and Paramedic

students. The Clinical Instructor is scheduled and performs clinical educational duties under the guidance of

the Clinical Coordinator and Program Director.


Essential Functions

Adjunct Clinical Instructors will:

  • Participate in the instruction of EMT and Paramedic clinical experience sessions.

  • Function under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator & Paramedic Program Director.

  • Prepare clinical sessions and deliver competent instruction on relevant patient care topics, including patient case review and patient physiology.

  • Demonstrate the safe and proper use of hospital (clinical) diagnostic equipment.

  • Educate in the prevention and exposure risks of hazardous or bio-hazardous materials.

  • Report student incidents to the Clinical Coordinator and Program Director regarding policy, attendance, misconduct, performance, or injury.

  • Provide leadership and positive role modeling for patient interaction and professional patient bedside manner.

  • Ensure student skills and evaluations are electronically confirmed and signed off by the end of each clinical rotation using Barry proprietary software.

  • Perform other clinical teaching duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements
  • Vocational Technical training in the field of Firefighter or Paramedic is required. An Associate's degree is preferred.

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience is required. RN - P.A. Nurse Practitioner degree may substitute the years of experience required.

  • Must have the ability to comprehend and deliver advanced life support curricula in the classroom, clinical, and lab environments.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Canvas, and becoming familiar with JBL Learning and FISDAP student skill tracking software.

  • Have working knowledge of advanced EMS and clinical diagnostic equipment and training simulation mannequins.

  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
