Job Summary
The Patient Care Representative works under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager performing medical front office duties and plays a supportive role in nursing. Job duties involve the following:
  • Provide excellent customer service by maintaining friendly/professional interactions with patients
  • Computerized appointment scheduling via telephone and face-to-face while maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Performing data entry of over-the-counter charges and payments
  • Handling patient registration and certification of patient demographics
  • Verifying all patient information at the time of each scheduled appointment
  • Managing phone calls from patients
  • Assisting in the creation, retrieving, filing, and maintaining of medical records as needed
  • Assisting with Prior Authorizations and referrals as needed ( covering, not primary)
  • Provides coverage for nursing staff for basic nursing duties such as rooming patients or clearing rooms for the next patient
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

The position is contingent on the continuation of an executed contract with Ballad Health for funding of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with two (2) years of office experience, or at least one year of college coursework combined with one year of office experience.
  • Ability to acquire or currently possess a valid CPR/BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the medical front office (including knowledge of managed care insurance. CPT- and ICD- coding, cashiering, and appointment scheduling).
  • Experience with electronic health records (Epic preferred).
  • Experience with practice management software (Epic preferred).
  • Experience with telephone customer service on a multi-line phone system.
  • Verification of Hepatitis 8 immunization.
Salary $16.77 an hour
