WLV Sport is part of the School of Sport within the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing.

The School combines the academic (learning, teaching and research) provision of sport along with facilities, student sports teams and our work with the wider sport community.  Our work embraces all definitions of sport to include: competitive and recreational sport, physical activity, Physical Education and coaching across all levels of ability.

We are seeking to recruit a full time Sports Assistant/Fitness Instructor to support the operation of the sports facilities at our Walsall & Wolverhampton Campuses.

The role includes gym supervision, leading group exercise classes, fitness suite inductions, assisting with sports set-ups and de-rigs and sports centre reception duties. Good customer care skills, the ability to handle customer enquiries and a commitment to work as part of a team are all necessary to be successful in this role.

You will also need to be well-organised, possess good communication skills and be able to take some responsibility for ensuring the successful operation of the business. Good clerical and IT skills are required together with some experience of work in a similar environment would be advantageous.

Successful candidates must have a level 2 Fitness Instruction qualification and experience of leading group exercise classes would be an advantage or willingness to achieve within 3 months of being in post.

Shift working patterns are in operation (WLV Sport is a 7-day operation between 6:15am-10:30pm), therefore you will need to have a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business.
