Evaluation of Technologically enabled medication devices and medicine adherence, TEMDMA
The Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University’s Faculty of Health and Medicine is seeking to fill a Research Associate position.
In this role, you will join a research project funded by NHS England via Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, in which Lancaster University is the evaluation partner. The project involves evaluation of using technology-enabled smart medication devices to manage medication adherence in social care recipients. The evaluation will explore benefits, facilitators, barriers and cost impacts of employing such devices, with an emphasis on what works for whom and what contextual factors or mechanisms may make it work. You will play a key role in conducting the research and disseminating its findings. You will work with an interdisciplinary team.
You will lead the economic evaluation of the technology which will imply liaising with care providers and technology suppliers for data access, merge and treat different datasets and perform data analysis, at multiple data collection time points. You will help maintain relationships with NHS and Local Government colleagues, and ensure key milestones are met. You will be responsible for writing up the research findings for publications and required reporting. You will work as part of a team and be able to work independently and flexibly.
You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, or a Masters level degree plus equivalent research experience. Ideally you will have research experience in health economics, specifically including economic evaluation of interventions, as evidenced by a track record of publications, relative to opportunity. You will have strong statistical skills with solid knowledge of causal methodologies. Knowledge and experience on managing and analysing data are essential. Experience in a health related area is preferred but not essential.
Our team and the Division of Health Research provides a friendly environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee and promotes a healthy work-life balance. The Faculty is committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies and has held a Silver Athena SWAN award since 2014 in recognition of its good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research.
The position is available from April 2025. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of working part time. This role could be undertaken as a hybrid-working position with a minimum of three days a week working at the Health Innovation campus, Lancaster University.
You will join Lancaster University on an indefinite contract; however, the role remains contingent on external funding, which is due to come to an end 12 months from commencement of contract.
Applicants wishing to consider the Skilled Worker Route should ensure they meet the points requirement before applying. Further information can be found on the UK Visas and Immigration website.
