The Lancet Neurology was launched in May, 2002, and is a lively monthly journal of original research, review, and opinion, covering international issues relevant to neurologists worldwide. About the role

As a Senior Editor, you will oversee the creation and publication of original material for our online and print journal. You will take ownership of overseeing submissions and performing quality peer review to ensure we publish high-quality content. You will build global relationships with experts in the community to disseminate and discuss practice-changing results from the field.

Responsibilities

  • Peer review and editing of manuscripts

  • Adherence to editorial policies and standards and assurance of the quality of the published material

  • Collaboration with peer reviewers, authors, assistant editors, illustrators, and production staff in the compilation and review of proofs

  • Collaboration with authors to maintain guidelines for manuscript submission and review

  • Commissioning of content for the journal to maintain a strong pipeline for Review and InContext material

  • Writing of and contribution to monthly Editorials

  • Attendance at conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field and to nurture relationships with editorial board members

  • Contribution to the strategic development of the journal

Requirements

  • Higher degree in a relevant discipline (eg, neuroscience) is desirable

  • Research experience in a relevant field or experience in the wider development community

  • Editorial experience, with a good understanding of all aspects of the journal publishing process

Work life

For this particular role, we do not expect daily attendance in the office but believe that regular in-person team meetings can be beneficial for us all. You will have a clearly defined schedule of work, and the way you use your weekly hours to complete it will be up to you.
