Salary: - Standard Grade 8: Salary in range £48,235 - £57,255 per annum (pro rata). This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year (pro rata).
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Bioinformatician specializing in vaccinology, lymph node biology, and immunology to participate in and coordinate the analysis for the MechRNA project to join Dr Nicholas Provine’s group at Pandemic Science Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be responsible for conducting detailed analysis of multi-modal single-cell data and other next generation sequencing and imaging datasets generated – using the analysis to identify, define and plan new projects that contribute to the overall aims of the projects. You will develop and use novel methodologies for interrogating and integrating datasets- creating, testing and implementing version-controlled computer code as required. You will also prepare manuscripts for publications on bioinformatics, keep details and comprehensible record your work and take leadership in more specialised publications.
To be successful in this role, you will hold PhD in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or other related computational subject together with experience in the analysis of single-cell RNA-seq data, including CITE-seq and V(D)J sequencing data. You will have proficiency with a high-level programming language (Python, R) and appropriate scripting languages. You will be able to deliver high-calibre analytical outputs as evidenced through a strong publication record, have excellent interpersonal skills, and able to supervise and train other team members. Having experience studying vaccine responses in immunocompromised individuals is desirable. As is practical experience in the preparation of single-cell sequencing libraries and spectral cytometry samples.
