Background
The Centre for Food Policy at City St George’s, University of London, is a leading interdisciplinary research centre focused on redesigning food systems to be effective for all. The Research Fellow will contribute to the NIHR Policy Research Programme funded Healthy Weight Policy Research Unit (HWPRU) Food policy and food systems workstream led by Professor Christina Vogel, who is also Director at the Centre for Food Policy. The postholder will work closely with colleagues within the Centre, University College London and Institute for Fiscal Studies.
Responsibilities
The role will require use of a range of research methods, including qualitative, quantitative, desktop and participatory approaches, and delivering project outputs The role will also involve liaising with co-investigators on the research project, our panel of public contributors and policy makers at local authorities, DHSC or other government departments. The post holder will be required to liaise with and provide support as needed to the research and, where necessary, the broader work of the Centre for Food Policy.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in a relevant field, have a passion to improve food systems and address dietary inequalities, and is familiar with UK food policy. They should possess excellent writing and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively, and have flexibility for fieldwork. A commitment to continuous professional development is essential and experience of managing or supporting others staff is desirable. Researchers from a range of backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The selection process will involve a 5-minute presentation on a pre-set topic and a 25 minute interview.
Presentation topic and interview panel composition will be emailed ahead of time.
