About the role
Join the University of Leicester as a Research Associate in Paediatric Critical Care and become part of a team leading impactful, internationally recognised work through the Paediatric Intensive Care Audit Network (PICANet). This full-time, fixed-term role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of a key audit programme that improves the care of critically ill children across the UK and Ireland.
You will play a central role in supporting research and audit activity within PICANet, using your clinical insight and analytical skills to maintain the quality of data collection, validation and reporting. You’ll be involved in designing and delivering research outputs, supporting clinical colleagues across critical care units, and facilitating public and patient involvement to enhance the relevance and reach of the programme.
As part of the wider TIMMS Research Group, you’ll engage with a vibrant academic community and benefit from collaborative partnerships. You will also take a lead in organising validation visits and supporting audits and bespoke research initiatives – with your work making a tangible difference in healthcare delivery.
About you
We are looking for a passionate and driven professional with a background in paediatrics, either through direct clinical experience (e.g. nursing or allied health professions), or through a strong academic and research-based route.
You will bring strong skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, including data analysis, as well as a collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills; with the capability of engaging with diverse stakeholders from clinicians to families. You will have a proactive and organised approach to work, with the ability to manage projects independently and as part of a team.
Ideally, you’ll also be familiar with audit methodologies, data protection best practices, and critical care pathways. Above all, you'll share our commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and delivering work that has a genuine impact.
Join a University that’s proud to be a Citizen of Change – where we believe in the power of research to inspire, include and drive real-world impact.
