Research Associate in Genomic, Cellular and Molecular Biology

About the role:

This is a unique opportunity for an early career genomic and cellular and molecular biologist wishing to develop their research with a multidisciplinary focus, working at the intersection of genomics and cardiology. This post is funded by a British Heart Foundation Special Grant. The Noseda team works collaboratively with Prof Manuel Mayr at Imperial and Prof. Thomas Treibel at UCL with the ultimate objective to improve our understanding of cardiac remodelling in valve disease using and integrated approach including single cell and spatial transcriptomics with spatial proteomics. Dr Noseda is an expert in multiomics approaches to study human heart disease as shown by the high impact publications.

What we are looking for:

You are expected to hold a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology, or Genomic Biology, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £43,003 - £46,297 per annum

Industry or commercial experience will also be considered.Knowledge, first-hand experience, and technical proficiency in single cell and spatial transcriptomics, practical experience in a computational biology and broad range of laboratory techniques, expertise in preparation of research papers for publication are required. 

The candidate will be responsible for single cell and spatial transcriptomics data analysis and integration with proteomics datasets. The project will be developed collaboratively with the group of Professor Manuel Mayr (Imperial), an expert in proteomics, and Prof Thomas Treibel, a clinical cardiologist (UCL). This is a unique opportunity for someone wishing to develop their career with a multidisciplinary perspective, working at the intersection of genomics, cellular and molecular biology and cardiology. You will be excellent and ambitious and will use the ample opportunities available at Imperial College to further progress including potential application for fellowships.

What you would be doing:

• you will be responsible for contributing to the design, implementation of single cell and spatial transcriptomics of human cardiac samples and lead on the computational analysis.
• You will also contribute to integration of these data with clinical metadata and importantly proteomics. Samples are available so experiments can commence right away.
• You will be expected to make a major contribution in the scientific and technical excellence and successful performance of the team, including by writing reports and manuscripts and by presenting at internal and external conferences.

This is a full time and a fixed-term role (18 months) The post is available immediately and will be based within the National Heart and Lung Institute on the Hammersmith Campus. Although some hybrid working may be considered, this post requires lab based and you are be expected to be available in person.
