The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant for a part-time (0.2 FTE), fixed term contract until the 30 March 2026.
About the role
Climate change threatens historic cities globally, with adverse or evolving environmental conditions posing risks to heritage buildings. This drives the need for architectural and conservation management strategies to safeguard the tangible and intangible value embodied in our architectural heritage assets.
Therefore, the goal of this project is two-fold: To investigate evidence-gaps for effective climate-resilience management strategies for heritage buildings. and to collaborate with stakeholders and community groups in two UNESCO world heritage cities – Bath, UK, and As-Salt, Jordan to co-create Indigenous knowledge and policies to improve heritage resilience management in a manner that is actionable, scalable and effective.
This role will support academic and expert teams in Bath (working remotely with the Amman team) to undertake literature/ desk reviews, case study analyses, workshops and fieldwork, and other tasks to support the UK-Jordan research/policy exchange.
As a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year
A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6) with comparable reduction in responsibilities and amendment in job title to Research Assistant, if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.
