Professional Development Advisors (PDA)

About the role

The Department for Health at the University of Bath is seeking to appoint two Professional Development Advisors (PDA) for our Football Medicine course ( https://www.bath.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate-2025/taught-postgraduate-courses/msc-football-medicine-in-association-with-fifa-part-time-distance-learning ), in particular working on the Football Medicine in Practice units. 

The appointed PDAs will advise students on how and where to gain the relevant clinical experience students require in order to meet their specific learning needs via a series of tutorials throughout the academic year. This work will occur in conjunction with monitoring students’ professional practice portfolios to monitor progress against the learning outcomes of the unit. 

The PDAs will enable students to identify and develop their ongoing learning needs and advise them on how to acquire the necessary skills/experience for them to be able to apply their Sport & Exercise Medicine knowledge to a clinical setting.

The roles are available immediately, and the posts are being advertised on an open ended basis, with the successful candidates working variable hours (spending 10 hours with a student over the academic year and have up to 5 students). About the ideal candidate

We are looking for candidates with strong clinical skills and depth of understanding of current best practice in Football Medicine.

The ideal candidate will:

• Possess a professional qualification in Sport & Exercise Medicine, Physiotherapy, or a related clinical field, with significant experience in Football Medicine or a similar setting.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to support students in identifying and achieving their learning objectives.
• Have a strong understanding of clinical requirements and the ability to guide students in sourcing appropriate learning opportunities within Football Medicine contexts.
• Show a commitment to fostering professional development, with a collaborative and flexible approach to working with students and academic staff.
• Be committed to working within professional and ethical codes of conduct and to providing the highest quality experience for students

Training and access to all necessary resources to enable the PDAs to support their students will be provided by the Department for Health.
