About us

Our contemporary Chemistry Department, based in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences, provides an exciting place to explore the boundaries of the subject. The Department champions the discipline of Chemistry across King’s, leading with its own research and teaching, and encourages close interdisciplinary collaborations.    

Our PGT and UG programmes have been designed to impart a rigorous theoretical and experimental understanding of chemistry, delivered within the context of biomedical applications. About the role

Applications are invited for a one year fixed-term position in the group of Dr Rebecca Musgrave in the Department of Chemistry, King’s College London. The research is directed towards the synthesis and characterisation of cyclic organometallic molecules and exploring their propensity towards ring-opening and polymerisation.

Applicants should have a PhD in synthetic chemistry, ideally with extensive experience in handling air- and moisture-sensitive materials using Schlenk line and glovebox techniques. Some experience in synthetic polymer chemistry is desired, but not essential. Excellent communication skills and experience of writing up research results for publication are expected.

* Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
