THIS IS A RE-ADVERTISEMENT, PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY.
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Bioelectronics research group at the Department of Engineering Science (Headington). The post is funded by UKRI and is fixed-term for up to 24 months.
The researcher will work with Professor Christopher Proctor to develop prototype bioelectronic technologies for interfacing with the nervous system. The emerging field of “bioelectronics” provides a novel intervention by sensing and electrically stimulating the nervous system. This project will push capacity to further include electronically controlled pharmaceutical release into bioelectronic systems. You will be responsible for microfabrication of bioelectronic technologies, development of materials for bioelectronic applications and optimization of bioelectronic devices for selective and controlled therapeutic release.
You should hold a relevant PhD (or be near completion) in fields such as biomedical, electrical or materials engineering. You should have proven competence in microfabrication techniques for biomedical technologies and evidence of working well as part of a busy multidisciplinary research team. Experience with microfluidics and/or drug delivery systems will be beneficial.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Christopher Proctor (christopher.proctor@eng.ox.ac.uk).
Only online applications received before midday on 28 April 2025 can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
